Jeanine Pirro, the judge and television star-turned U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, could soon be out of a job, journalist Molly Jong-Fast said Sunday.
“Trump operates on this sort of ‘Earth 2’ scenario where things are as he says they are,” Jong-Fast said during an appearance on MS NOW. “We saw this with Kristi Noem where you can only shift reality so much.”
A loyal ally to Trump, Pirro invoked the president’s anger this weekend after her office dropped charges against a man accused of vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, U.S. Olympic canoeist David Hearn.
Pirro was forced to admit in a court filing that the damage to the pool was instead caused by a “flawed installation.”
For Jong-Fast, crossing Trump – especially as a woman in his administration – was an easy indicator of an early termination.
“She got this job because Donald Trump liked her on television, so it’s not as if she’s eminently qualified,” Jong-Fast said. “Part of being in this administration – especially for women – is appearing in a way that pleases Donald Trump, whatever that means.
“You could certainly see her losing her job over this.”
Stuart Stevens, former campaign strategist for Republican Mitt Romney during his failed 2012 presidential bid, then jumped in to express his exhaustion over Trump’s Reflecting Pool fixation.
“We’re talking about the Reflecting Pool?” Stevens said.
“We’re at war, under 30 percent of the people in the country think the economy is going in the right direction, and this is what it’s like? I just say to my former Republicans, good luck this November, baby, because nobody cares about this but Donald Trump.”
