‘Big Brother 28’ star Kamu Kirk under fire for video joking about George Floyd’s death

“Big Brother” star Kamu Kirk is catching heat for a resurfaced video of him making a joke about George Floyd’s death.

The Season 28 contestant filmed his reaction to a person getting arrested near his residence and posted it on his Instagram Stories back in December, with it still visible in his profile highlights at the time of writing. The person — whose face isn’t visible — could be heard screaming, “I can’t breathe.”

Kirk, 32, laughs and mocks the person, saying, “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.”

“Bro thinks he’s George Floyd,” he continues.

Kirk filmed as police dealt with the person, who could be heard screaming in distress, “I’m dying.”

“People are crazy, man. I’m going back inside,” he says.

“I am gonna take that spot though,” he adds with a smile, seemingly referring to a parking spot the person who was being arrested formerly occupied.

Floyd was killed in May 2020 when Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nine and a half minutes while Floyd repeatedly said he couldn’t breathe. He was 46 years old.

“Big Brother” fans blasted Kirk on social media for the video. One X post about the MMA fighter reads, “Racist as hell but also just a disgusting lack of empathy for another human being in distress. Kamu Kirk is garbage.”

Another X post reads, “the way it’s not even just kamu mocking George Floyd. he’s witnessing police brutality IN PERSON, LAUGHING at the victim, AND mocking George Floyd. then he films it, posts it on social media, and puts it in his HIGHLIGHTS. he is proud of that moment and wants to showcase it.”

Some fans criticized CBS for casting Kirk on “Big Brother.”

“I expect nothing less from him. He’s a piece of [crap emoji]. Did @CBSBigBrother not vet his social media? This is unacceptable,” one critic wrote.

Page Six reached out to CBS for comment, but didn’t receive an immediate response back.

Fans have now been digging up Kirk’s controversial social media behavior, in which he appeared to “like” a post identifying as a Christian Nationalist as well as posts criticizing the Muslim religion.

But this isn’t the first time Kirk has come under fire. He’s been accused of being homophobic, and on Wednesday’s episode of the reality series, he called contestant Jason De Puy — a drag queen who competed on Season 15 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”  — a “zesty bestie.”

Some viewers took issue with the term “zesty,” which is a term that mocks men who are perceived as flamboyant or effeminate.

One fan wrote on X, “the blatant homophobia im sickkk he’s not even trying to hide it anymore.”

Earlier this month, he again caused controversy when he made comments during the live feeds about De Puy.

“I said, ‘Bro, miss me with the drag stuff,” he said in a conversation with “Survivor” alum Rick Devens. “Miss me. I’m still an MMA guy, and I have an image to uphold.”

“Big Brother” alum Frankie Grande, who’s openly gay and has criticized Kirk this season for his treatment of Du Poy, called for Kirk to be evicted from the game Thursday on X.

“You guys. Enough. How is this monster still in the house,” Grande wrote, while posting the video of Kirk making the joke about Floyd. “What the f—k?!”
