Chloe Fineman had tension with ‘SNL’ co-stars before exit: ‘Not everyone clicked with her’

Chloe Fineman’s relationships with her “Saturday Night Live” castmates weren’t always smooth sailing.

Just a day after the comedian announced she was leaving NBC’s iconic late-night sketch show after seven seasons, a source exclusively told Page Six that while Fineman, 37, formed close friendships with some co-stars, she didn’t necessarily mesh with everybody.

“Chloe could rub people the wrong way at times,” our insider said. “She got along really well with some cast members, but not everyone clicked with her.”

According to the source, “Some cast members felt like she expected people to accommodate her and assumed everyone would adjust to her schedule and preferences.”

However, the insider noted, “It wasn’t some huge feud or anything like that.”

Meanwhile, a second source close to the show exclusively told Page Six: “There’s no truth to this.”

Representatives for Fineman or NBC did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

The actress took to Instagram Thursday to announce her departure alongside a carousel of snaps of her favorite memories and sketches from the show.

“After 7 wonderful seasons at ‘SNL’ I have decided it’s time for my next chapter,” she captioned the post. “It’s cliche to say this but working at ‘SNL’ has been the greatest privilege of my life. I still can’t really believe I got to be a part of it.”

“Every day I was lucky enough to be surrounded by the best people in the business, and I was constantly amazed watching them work,” Fineman continued. “I’m definitely not the first to make this observation but it really is funny looking back at it all now, because at the show you get so invested in everything you work on.

She added: “You sob uncontrollably when your sketch isn’t picked. You storm into a producers office telling them they just made the biggest mistake of their lives. You call everyone you know to complain. And then you look back a few years later and it was a sketch called ‘lipstick for thicc dogs.’”

“Congrats Carlotaaaa ❤️‍🔥🫱🏼🫲🏼 💃,” Marcello Hernandez wrote. “SNL legend 😭,” Ben Marshall added.

Ego Nwodim, who departed from the show last year, commented, “Congratulations Chloe!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.”

Last year, Nwodim and fellow alum Heidi Gardner opened up about the show’s “challenging” on-set dynamic after their departures.

“We’re humans, so we have egos, we want things for ourselves, we want to succeed, and there weren’t a lot of times when we were able to succeed in the way we wanted at the exact same time,” Gardner explained on Nwodim’s “Thanks Dad” podcast in October 2025.

Nwodim agreed, “It’s so easy to be caught up with your own stuff at ‘SNL’ and what you’re getting on and what you’re not getting on, how you’re succeeding and how you wish you were doing better, or how I want what that person has.”

As Page Six previously reported, Fineman felt leaving the sketch comedy series was the “best move” because she found herself up against rising stars like Ashley Padilla and Veronika Slowikowska, insiders exclusively told us.

Fineman made the decision to depart just hours after she was offered a role on David E. Kelley’s new Netflix drama, “Myron Bolitar,” Page Six reported.

It “all unfolded in one day … It happened very quickly,” an industry insider said. “Chloe went back and forth, but it was a smart move — she knew she couldn’t say no. After seven seasons on the show, and with all the new faces, it was probably the best move for her.”
