Manny Pacquiao has delivered a brutal blow to Floyd Mayweather Jr. years after their blockbuster fight by taking over one of his longtime rival’s former boxing gyms in Hollywood.
The former Mayweather Boxing + Fitness location at 1724 N. Highland Ave. has reopened as Pacquiao Prime Boxing Gym, with Mayweather’s photos replaced by nearly identical images of the Filipino boxing icon.
Pacquiao’s team moved in after the Hollywood gym permanently closed on Jan. 1, 2025
The franchise once operated more than 70 locations worldwide, including at least nine across the greater Los Angeles area, but fewer than half remain.
“Right after Manny’s [2025] fight against [Mario] Barrios, we went to go see it together,” Jas Mathur, CEO of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, told LA Material. “The cherry on the cake is for it to have Floyd’s name and to switch it out. But the location is key as a flagship to expand.”
The takeover comes as the two boxing legends appear to be on very different financial paths. Pacquiao, whose net worth is estimated at about $220 million, has continued expanding his business interests.
Mayweather, meanwhile, has faced mounting debt, asset liquidations and legal battles.

The fight now appears indefinitely tied up in legal disputes after Mayweather’s team allegedly committed the rights to multiple promoters.
Pacquiao previously trained at Hollywood’s Wild Card Boxing Club under longtime trainer Freddie Roach before relocating to his new flagship gym, a move that has already been felt by neighboring businesses.
Mayweather retired undefeated at 50-0 with 27 knockouts, while Pacquiao finished his career with a 62-8-2 record and 39 knockouts across 72 professional fights.
