‘Necrocracy in action’: Trump torpedoes mental fitness defense with single baffling word

President Donald Trump shot himself in the proverbial foot Saturday with a lengthy rant that raised the precisely the concerns he meant to dismiss.

Trum’s assertion that he remains in perfect healthincluded a single word that rang alarm bells for Daily Beast reporter Sarah-Jane Collins: “Just.”

“President Donald Trump has sparked fresh health concerns after bragging that he “just” completed a physical exam at Walter Reed Medical Center,” she wrote.

“The 80-year-old president was golfing at the time of his post on Truth Social on Saturday, according to White House press pool reports, and there have been no reports of him undergoing another medical exam after his last one in late May.”

Trump’s Truth Social post targeted journalist Maggie Haberman after she fielded questions about his mental health on MS NOW Saturday morning.

That interview took place after a week of gaffes that saw him refer to Iran as the “Islamic State of Japan” and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as Vladimir Putin.

“His health is like a black box inside that administration,” Haberman said. “They have released less and less information.”

Trump’s response was to call Haberman “maggot” and boast about his cognative health.

“Also, I just finished a perfect physical at Walter Reed, I do it every six months, and I requested another Cognitive Test, the only President to do so, three times, and I aced them all — Got every question right,” he wrote. “Few people in Washington, D.C., could do so, including Maggot.”

The Daily Beast reporter was not alone in her lingering confusion about Trump’s usage of the word “Just.”

“‘Just finished a perfect physical’?” asked Olivier Knox, senior national political correspondent for U.S. News & World Report. “Another one? Or is this the May physical?”

“Trump was at Walter Reed for a physical on May 26, less than 2 months ago,” noted foreign policy reporter Laura Rozen. “Trump today: ‘every six months.’”

“Trump just had a physical in May,” echoed writer and conspiracy theory expert Mike Rothschild. “Was the one where 22 doctors checked him out and declared he will live for 200 years. Less than two months later, he’s getting another? Necrocracy in action?”

Eventually a White House official provided an explanation to CNN reporter Alejandra Jaramillo.

“The President was referring to his recent physical at Walter Reed that took place on May 26th,” they reportedly said.
