Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Unite in Marriage

This is a nod to a beloved tradition, written intentionally in the style of a classic New York Times wedding announcement. This piece draws on details our reporters gathered while covering the festivities and imagines how the couple’s story might read in the familiar language of Vows and society pages.

Taylor Alison Swift, the pop singer who has won 14 Grammy Awards, and Travis Michael Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, were married July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Adam Sandler, the actor and comedian and a friend of the couple, officiated before 1,000 guests.

Ms. Swift, 36, who received an honorary Ph.D. in fine arts in 2022 from N.Y.U., recently released the song “I Knew It, I Knew You” for the soundtrack of the movie “Toy Story 5.” Her 16 full-length albums include “The Life of a Showgirl,” released in 2025, and her music has been the subject of many college courses, including one at Harvard (English 183TS) entitled “Taylor Swift and Her World.”

She is the daughter of Andrea G. Swift of Forest Hills, Tenn., and Marathon Keys, Fla., and Scott K. Swift of St. Petersburg, Fla., and the Nashville area. Her mother, formerly a mutual funds marketing executive, went on to manage her daughter’s branding. Her father retired as a longtime stockbroker and financial adviser at Merrill Lynch, who established the Swift Group as part of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, in Hendersonville, Tenn.

The bride will keep her name professionally and will be known otherwise as Ms. Kelce.

Ms. Swift and Mr. Kelce started dating in the summer of 2023 after he attended her Eras Tour and became engaged last August.

Ms. Swift and her younger brother, Austin, who was the man of honor at the wedding, grew up on Pine Ridge Farm, an 11-acre Christmas tree farm, in Cumru Township, near Reading, Pa., and later moved to Wyomissing, Pa.

Mr. Kelce, also 36, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Cincinnati, also hosts a sports podcast, “New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce,” with his older brother, formerly a center with the Philadelphia Eagles.

He and his brother grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. His brother was the best man at the wedding.

The groom is a son of Donna Kelce of Orlando, Fla., and Ed Kelce of Haverford, Pa. His mother retired as a senior vice president responsible for underwriting fund and direct affordable housing projects at Truist Financial in Orlando. His father retired as a sales representative selling insulating and operating products to manufacturers in the steel and metals processing industry in the Cleveland area.
