Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) delivered a one-word response to a report that she is mulling whether to resign from Congress as she runs for governor in South Carolina.
The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Mace was considering resigning from her seat over how GOP leadership treats women. Mace has publicly broken with President Donald Trump and the GOP over their handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. She has also told people close to her that she is planning to reach out to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) about retiring early, according to the report.
CNN’s Manu Raju asked Mace about the report on Wednesday.
“Nancy Mace tells me ‘no’ she’s not going to resign from her House seat early,” Raju reported on Wednesday.
Mace has a complicated relationship with Trump and the GOP. She initially criticized Trump after the Jan. 6 insurrection, voting to certify the 2020 election results. However, she has since supported many of Trump’s policy positions, such as his deportation agendaand his economic policies.
However, Mace’s antics have also landed her in hot water with the White House, which recently warned her that her political ambitions may be at risk if she continues breaking with Trump.
