A bus that overturned in a multi-car pileup on the Long Island Expressway, killing two and wounding nearly 20 people, was carrying a Royal Jordanian Airlines flight crew when it crashed.
The coach bus — which was transporting 15 crew members from Royal Jordanian Airlines flight RJ826 — smashed into two vehicles around 11:45 p.m. on Monday near Exit 16 for Greenpoint Avenue, according to the airline and the NYPD.

The bus then flipped over into oncoming traffic in the eastbound lanes, crashing into two other cars, police said.
The 35-year-old male bus driver and an unidentified passenger — confirmed to be a Royal Jordanian crew member — were pronounced dead on the scene, cops added.
The operator of another smashed vehicle and an unidentified individual were taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to the FDNY and police.
A whopping 17 others suffered minor injuries in the wreck, officials said.

The flight crew, which included two Thai flight attendants, had been on their way to hotel accommodations from John F. Kennedy Airport when the terrifying crash unfolded.
“Royal Jordanian stated that the accident resulted in the death of one crew member, while the remaining injured are in stable condition and receiving the necessary medical care,” the airline said in a statement.
“The airline expressed its profound sorrow over this unfortunate incident, offering its condolences and sympathies to the family of the deceased, and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.”
The wreck damaged the median barrier and shut down the expressway in both directions, snarling major traffic for hours.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
