Kate Middleton completes grueling 23-mile hiking challenge to raise money for cancer charity

Kate Middleton completed an extremely challenging hike to raise money for cancer care.

The Princess of Wales, 44, shared a picture of herself taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge Sunday — a 24-hour endurance event that involves climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales. Middleton successfully climbed the Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Wales.

The hike covers 23 miles and an ascent of 10,052 feet, often in adverse weather and in the dark.

Middleton smiled big in her pic posted on X despite the challenging physical event, wearing a baseball cap and a black jacket with the hood up while carrying hiking gear on her back.

She also wrote a heartfelt note about how cancer has affected her. The mother of three was diagnosed with cancer in March 2024, completed chemotherapy and has been in remission since January 2025.

“Cancer doesn’t just affect the body. It changes how you think and feel and profoundly affects every aspect of life,” she wrote. “I know this personally, and that the journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone.”

“I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavour but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back,” she continued.

Middleton said she was taking on the challenge to raise awareness “for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare.”

“This challenge will support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, helping to transform access to, and understanding of, holistic care that will enhance recovery and healing for patients across the UK,” she noted.

Middleton also shared a message of support to those battling cancer.

“Bravery isn’t just about pushing forward. It is about knowing how to stay grounded, connected and present, no matter the terrain, or landscape you are walking through,” she wrote. “Together, we can stand alongside everyone navigating life with cancer, ensuring no one faces this disease feeling unseen or unsupported.”

She added, “Please know you are not alone.”

According to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, donations raised by Middleton will go towards the development of a new center for holistic wellbeing and recovery, as well as the creation of a specialist program for “transforming access to holistic care, alongside clinical treatment” for patients across the UK to enhance recovery.
