Late Night Wades Into the Reflecting Pool’s Algae Bloom

Welcome to Late Night Roundup, a rundown of the previous night’s highlights that lets you sleep — and lets us get paid to watch comedy. Here are the 50 best movies on Netflix right now.

‘Mexican Flag Green’

The Reflecting Pool at the Lincoln Memorial turned green with algae just days after crews completed a $14.2 million project — ordered by President Trump — that coated its floor with dark blue waterproofing material.

“He wanted to paint it ‘American flag blue,’” Jimmy Kimmel said on Tuesday.

“Now not even a week later, it’s already completely green — it’s Mexican flag green.” — JIMMY KIMMEL

“Experts are saying that when Trump had it painted dark blue, he made the problem worse because the darker color retains more heat and algae thrives in warmer water. You know, he promised he would drain the swamp. Instead, he spent 14 million of our dollars building a new one.” — JIMMY KIMMEL

“His next step is to move St. Patrick’s Day to July and claim it’s green on purpose.” — JIMMY KIMMEL

“He owns hotels. If there was one thing he could do, you would think it was keep a pool clean, he can’t even get that right.” — JIMMY KIMMEL

The Punchiest Punchlines (How Green is It? Edition)

“Yeah, Trump was going for ‘Avatar’ and he ended up with ‘Shrek.’” — JIMMY FALLON

“I’m worried ‘cause Trump said if he can’t turn the water blue, he’s going to turn the American flag green.” — JIMMY FALLON

“It’s not good right now, the reflecting pool is changing colors more often than Trump’s hand.” — JIMMY FALLON

The Bits Worth Watching

Seth Meyers skipped his typical opening segments for an interview with Karl-Anthony Towns of the New York Knicks on Tuesday’s “Late Night.”

What We’re Excited About on Wednesday Night

Rock star Kim Gordon will perform her new song “Play Me” on Wednesday’s “Tonight Show.”

After a successful run in London, the “Paddington” musical is making its way to Broadway next April.
