Rep. Randy Fine might have committed a federal crime by defying Trump

Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) openly defied President Donald Trump Sunday night by encouraging Israel to launch strikes against Iran, contradicting Trump’s explicit directive to Israeli leadership not to respond to Iranian attacks.

After Iran struck Israel in response to Israeli bombing of Lebanon. Trump urged restraint, but Israel launched missiles anyway, according to reports by Barak Ravid.

“Israel has every right to respond to rockets being fired at its civilians exactly as we would,” wrote Fine Sunday night in a social media post on X.

“Bombs away,” he encouraged.

GOP congressional candidate Aaron Baker accused Fine of violating the Logan Act, which prohibits unauthorized communications with foreign governments to influence their conduct, according to Cornell Law School.

Baker wrote on X, “Now you are telling Netanyahu ‘bombs away?’ President Trump told Bibi NO. Now you have violated The Logan Act, Rep. Fine.”

Fine is known as a fierce Israel defender but has drawn scrutiny for controversial remarks critics describe as “unspeakably racist” or “genocidal.” In 2021, a social media user shared a picture of what appeared to be a Palestinian baby buried in rubble, and asked the official, “How do you sleep at night?”

“Quite well, actually,” Fine said. Adding, “Thanks for the pic!”

Last year, he also told Gazans to starve away on social media.
