“Dawson’s Creek” alums Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes gushed over their “precious” relationship while promoting their new movie, “Happy Hours.”

“The time that we spent together when we were young is very precious to both of us,” Jackson said in a Cherry the Geek TV interview while holding Holmes’ hand at the Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday.

“And [it] is like one of the core personal and professional relationships in my life,” he added.

Jackson, 47, praised Holmes’ work as the director and writer of “Happy Hours,” which marks the pair’s first collaboration since “Dawson’s Creek” ended 23 years ago.

“She creates this beautiful space for the two of us to come back and work together and tell a beautiful story,” he explained. “A hopeful story, a real human story.”

Jackson added he “was both flattered and excited” when Holmes, 47, asked him to work together again.

“You wrote this for us. You did the whole thing,” he said to Holmes. “So it was magical for me to be able to come back. And you waited for me, which I appreciated.”

Holmes, for her part, called her working relationship with Jackson “very sacred” and said she took their on-screen reunion “very seriously.”

“We’ve often talked about doing something again, but we never knew what,” the “Batman Begins” star shared. “So it was really about that and agreeing to go for it, I suppose.”

Holmes added of Jackson, “He said yes, and that made me feel very good.”

In “Happy Hours,” Holmes and Jackson play former sweethearts who cross paths again and debate if their romance is worth rekindling.

Mary-Louise Parker, Joe Tippett and Constance Wu also star in the film, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival over the weekend.

In a separate interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Holmes and Jackson spoke about their late “Dawson’s Creek” co-star James Van Der Beek, who died of cancer at age 48 in February.

“We had a lot of incredible memories together,” Holmes said. “And a lot of really wonderful personal growing up stories. We care deeply for his family and all of my memories are for his family and for each other.

Jackson said knowing Van Der Beek after the late actor became a husbandand a father is what he’ll “cherish the most” about their bond.

“He was an amazing father and an amazing partner,” Jackson continued. “That time we all shared together was life-changing for each one of us in collective and individual ways. But his final form was his perfect form. So that’s what I’ll always take away.”

Holmes and Jackson starred in the beloved WB series from 1998 to 2003 as onscreen couple Pacey Witter and Joey Potter.

In April, Holmes shared an Instagram of herself and Jackson in “Happy Hours” and “liked” a fan comment suggesting they should date.

Jackson previously said he’s “very close” with Holmes while discussing his connections with his former co-stars during an April 2025 appearance on the “Dinner’s on Me” podcast.

“It’s not a daily call,” he said. “Sometimes it’s not a weekly or monthly or even a half-yearly call. But when you’re together, there’s always that I know you know.”
