Matt Lauer is reportedly eyeing a return to media eight years after he was fired from “Today.”
The disgraced news anchor “wants to get back into the media arena in some capacity, if not TV,” a source told People Monday.
“He has talked to some people about it,” the insider added.

Lauer, 67, was notoriously fired from NBC over “inappropriate sexual behavior” in November 2017.
The network received a “detailed complaint from a colleague” about his behavior and had reason to believe “this may not have been an isolated incident.”
Page Six exclusively reported that the former TV personality was also accused of sexting female staffersat NBC, allegedly sending lewd messages and revealing pictures to women, including a young intern.

Shortly following his firing, two other women came forward with claims against Lauer, one of whom claimed the anchor summoned her to his office for sexand she “felt helpless because she didn’t want to lose her job.”
One day after the network announced his firing, Lauer made a public apology, but made sure to note that some of the accusations are “untrue.”
“There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions,” he said in a statement. “To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry.

Lauer added that some of what has been said about him is “untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed.”
He and ex-wife Annette Roque also split in the wake of the scandal and finalized their divorce two years later.
Since his fall from grace, Lauer has lived a quiet life in the Hamptons.

The source also told People that almost a decade later, he is “still angry” with “the way he was treated by the industry” and “people he thought were his friends.”
In the past eight years, the source said he’s been focusing on being a “good father” to his kids — Jack, 24, Romy, 22, and Thijs, 18, whom he shares with Roque — and “spending time with them.”
Earlier this year, former CNN journalist Don Lemon predicted Lauer’s comeback to the news industry and claimed “the public misses him.”
