Mamdani-backed House hopeful Darializa Avila Chevalier called for ‘world without borders,’ claimed ‘Israel doesn’t exist’

Far-left New York congressional hopeful Darializa Avila Chevaliercalled for the seizure of property from landlords and the abolition of police and prisons in more unhinged social media posts — in which she also rejected the existence of the state of Israel.

Chevalier, who is challenging incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillatin New York’s 13th Congressional District primary later this month, has been endorsed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani despite a series of offensive messages that include calling Joe Biden a “rapist” and “war criminal” during the 2020 presidential election, referring to the US as a “f—ing disgrace,” gleefully talking about wiping her dirty hands on the American flag and describing interracial relationships involving white females as “fetishizing ugly colonizer women.”

The newly revealed posts, all from between 2018 and 2022 on her since-deleted X account and dug up by CNN via the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, feature even more hateful takes

In August 2020, Chevalier, now 32, retweeted a post that read “Israel suddenly disappears, your third emoji is your reaction,” with the reply “Trick question — Israel doesn’t exist!”

During a three day pro-illegal immigration social media bender in September 2021, Chevalier lete fly with posts including: “A world without borders—just like a world without prisons or police—is possible, necessary, and the only moral way forward.”

For those wondering whether she was doing a bit, Chevalier later clarified, “Yes, literally, abolish the border. All deportation is wrong.”

Not even fellow leftists have been immune from Chevalier’s screeds, as she accused socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders of promoting “liberal Zionism” and even called out Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for voting “present” on Israeli military funding.

Some of the posts highlighted by CNN include advocacy of pro-communist positions.

When the COVID-19 pandemic was just starting, Chevalier reposted a message calling for the nationalization of hospitals, utilities and pharmaceutical companies; suspending rent and mortgage payments; dismantling insurance companies and “seiz[ing] all properties from landlords,” according to the report.

In another deleted post from 2019, Chevalier urged “Seize the means of production,” with no additional context.

During the height of woke anti-police sentiment following the killing of George Floyd in 2020, Chevalier replied to a post in which a user had asked if the movement had a better slogan than “defund the police.”

“[F]–k you,” she pithily replied. “We’re gonna defund and abolish. You don’t get to water down our movement.”

Two days later, when someone suggested the movement’s purpose was actually to end policing in society “as we know it,” Chevalier was quick to correct them.

“No. It means ending policing full stop. Period. No more police at all ever,” she replied with several clapping hands emojis.

Text of a post advocating for ending policing completely, stating it's harmful to the work of Black abolitionists to dilute the movement.
The 32-year-old claims to have “grown considerably” in the 4-6 years since the controversial social media posts.

In response to the report, Chevalier accused Espaillat of attempting to distract her would-be constituents in Manhattan and the Bronx.

“My opponent wants to live in the past. He is re-litigating social media posts from half a decade ago, and continuing to champion an outdated politics that fails to serve our people,” she told CNN.

“I have grown considerably since in the years since these tweets, and I am focused on our community and our community’s future.”

Mamdani also doubled down on his support in a separate statement: “In Congress, she’ll take on corporate greed, bad landlords, and D.C.’s broken political system. At a time when power is concentrated in fewer and fewer hands, Darializa will fight in Congress for New York City’s working families. She’s the champion we need for a city New Yorkers can actually afford.”
