Reba McEntire corrects Savannah Guthrie on live TV over Rex Linn question

Reba McEntire corrected “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie live on the air after the journalist questioned her about her fiancé, Rex Linn.

The country music singer appeared on Monday’s episode of the NBC program to discuss Season 2 of her sitcom “Happy’s Place.”

“You also met your husband there, so Rex, good ole Rex…” Guthrie said, referring to McEntire’s co-star and husband-to-be.

McEntire quickly interrupted Guthrie, interjecting, “Now, wait a minute.”

“You also met your husband there, So Rex, good ole Rex,” Guthrie said in an interview with the “Reba” alum.

“Before everybody has a conniption fit at home, we’re just engaged,” she corrected her.

Guthrie apologized for accidentally referring to Linn as her husband.

McEntire went on to explain that she just wanted to make sure her loved ones didn’t think they missed the wedding.

Linn was seen smiling off stage during the interview.

“My family will go, ‘Wait, you didn’t tell us?!’” McEntire explained.

Linn happened to be watching the interview offstage and looked completely shocked when the camera cut to him. However, his expression softened once his fiancée made the clarification on their relationship status.

“He is a workaholic, and he loves to rehearse,” McEntire gushed. “Me, not so much on the rehearsal part, so he really makes sure that I know my lines, that I’m ready to go when we have a tape day.”

McEntire, 70, also said that she and Linn, 69, have had “a blast” collaborating on the series together.

“We’re so grateful and thankful that we get to go to work together, work together, and then go home together,” she said.

McEntire confirmed that they got engaged in December 2024, but they were waiting to share the exciting news due to the devastating LA wildfires.

She spilled the beans on their engagement in September when a reporter on a red carpet referred to Linn as McEntire’s “fiancé,” and she didn’t correct him.

Just like their engagement announcement, the couple’s wedding is going to be very “low-key.”

“A Reba, Rex wedding is going to be very different. It’s going to be low-key, lots of fun, lots of people, lots of food. Our big motto is just have fun,” she said.

McEntire and Linn have known each other since the ’90s. However, they reconnected after McEntire’s mom died in 2020, and they have been together ever since.

The “Reba” alum was previously married to Charlie Battles from 1976 to 1987 and Narvel Blackstock — with whom she shares 35-year-old son Shelby — from 1989 to 2015.
