Anti-ICE protesters defiant day after violent clash with NYPD: ‘We’ll do it every single time’

Anti-ICE activists vowed Sunday to continue protesting federal immigration raids in the Big Apple — and refused to apologize for a violent clash with the NYPD at a Lower Manhattan demonstration.

The proclamation came just one day after the protest against US Immigration & Customs Enforcement agents got out of hand, with cops caught in the middle — and protesters now vowing to keep doing it.

“We do not apologize for standing up,” city Public Advocate Jumaane Williams said at a press conference with members of the New York Immigration Coalition, one day after more than 150 protesters battled with cops outside an ICE deployment center.

“We’ll do it every single time,” Williams vowed.

Police said Sunday that “multiple individuals were taken into custody” at the out-of-control demonstration outside the US General Services Administration building on Centre Street before noon Saturday that saw police officers called in, only to be bombarded with trash and debris.

Cops would not provide more details nor reveal how many were charged, but said cops repeatedly warned the mob to move along, leading to confrontations between the two sides when they refused.

Sources said at least 18 of the demonstrators were charged.

Protesters, who descended upon the city over the weekend, converged on a Lower Manhattan parking garage where federal immigration agents were allegedly ready to deploy for an immigration round-up raid, law enforcement sources said.

On Sunday, advocates called the ongoing raids “horrifying and idiotic.”

“Our neighbors, New Yorkers of every stripe, mobilized, took time out of their day to come here and defend their neighbors to make sure that people were not disappeared, that families were not separated, and stood here for hours,” coalition president and CEO Murad Awawdeh told reporters.

Another pol at the presser was outgoing city Comptroller Brad Lander, who took issue with the NYPD, claiming they “facilitated ICE deportations.

“I really do want to ask the NYPD to remember who you’re sworn to protect and serve, and it’s the people of New York City,” Lander said.

“And yesterday, the people who were protecting and serving New Yorkers were the protesters who showed up.”

However, law enforcement sources told The Post that NYPD brass was less than pleased with New York’s Finest getting caught in the middle of the raucous riot — without a heads-up from the feds.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch allegedly gave the feds a tongue-lashing over the Saturday melee, which saw cops pelted with debris when they tried to step in to protect the ICE agents, sources said.

Tisch has agreed to stay on when Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, a frequent critic of federal immigration policies under President Trump, takes office after his election victory earlier this month.

Federal authorities have also had to navigate New York’s status as a sanctuary city and policy of not working with ICE on civil arrests and deportations — which runs counter to the Trump administration’s campaign to launch immigration raids throughout the country since taking office.

Meanwhile, immigrant advocates said they’re not going to let up while the raids continue.

“Every time federal officers come into our communities with the intention of conducting lawless raids, of terrorizing our communities, they will be met with non-violent community resistance,” Hannah Stouts, an organizer for Hands Off NYC, said during Sunday’s press conference.
