Shedeur Sanders has a shot to be the Browns’ starting quarterback for the foreseeable future.
Cleveland is reportedly open to giving Sanders an extended look as the team’s starter for the remainder of the season, ESPN reported Saturday.
Sanders’ situation could be similar to how fellow Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel was given multiple starts in the first half of the season.

Nevertheless, any decision to go with Sanders for the rest of the season will be based on how he performs on Sunday against the 49ers, according to ESPN.
Sanders also reportedly had another successful week of practice and took reps as the starter for the second time this season.
“Very committed to working at it, doing a great job, communicating with coaches, with the players,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters on Friday, per ESPN. “Good work week, but nothing different. I think any player, though, once you get one game under your belt, you got the next one coming. I think it can only help.”
During his first career NFL start last week, Sanders, 23, helped lead the Browns to a 24-10 win over the Raiders, throwing for 209 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception while completing 11-of-20 passes.

Despite having a solid game, Sanders told reporters he still believes that he needs to fight for a starting job in Cleveland.
“I’m definitely not comfortable, though, so that’s first and foremost that I have another opportunity to go out there,” Sanders said Wednesday. “But in life, you got to understand how quickly things come or how long it comes, it could be taken at any point in time.
