Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) became frustrated with Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner during a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing Thursday for repeatedly discussing the Biden administration’s record instead of his own.
Turner noted there were 770,000 homeless people under Former President Joe Biden, but Gillibrand pressed him for results from his tenure.
“You had this job for well over a year. I just want to know. Did you get the number down?” she asked.
Gillibrand repeatedly interrupted Turner’s Biden-focused responses, demanding he address his actual performance rather than making excuses. When Turner cited last year’s government shutdown as limiting his ability to provide data, Gillibrand accused him of “obfuscating.” She drew on personal accounts of homeless children, saying she needed concrete evidence his approach was working.
“Stop with the excuses! Just explain your record!” Gillibrand insisted.
