Hats? The Kentucky Derby has a few.
Hours before America’s most famous horse race had begun in Louisville, spectators engaged in the event’s other time-honored tradition (apart from day drinking): parading around Churchill Downs in outrageous outfits.
But it wasn’t just hats — fascinators, fedoras, bowlers, boaters and feathers (so many feathers) — that caught the eye. There were other equine-inflected accessories too: purses, embroidery, jackets and more.
For many, fun was the name of the game — it seemed less about what you wore and more about how big you wore it.
A wild ride as always.
