CAROLINA, Puerto Rico — Kaylene Smikle scored 13 points as No. 7 Maryland coasted to a 95-38 win over Hofstra on Thursday to wrap up the Discover Puerto Rico Classic.
Addi Mack, Marya Boiko and Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu scored 10 points apiece for the Terrapins (9-0), who shot 58.2 percent, had a 40-17 rebounding advantage and forced 24 turnovers that they converted into 41 points. Maryland used 13 players; 11 played at least 10 minutes, and 12 scored.
The Terps got their real challenge in the opener of this event Wednesday, when they defeated No. 16 Kentucky, 74-66, in a battle of unbeatens. With Thursday’s victory, Maryland reached 9-0 for the second year in a row; it won its first 14 games last season.

Olivia VanPatten scored eight points to lead the Pride (1-4), which shot 32.6 percent in the schools’ first meeting.
The Terps scored the first 10 points and made 9 of 12 shots with three three-pointers to lead 29-6 after the first quarter. They made 4 of 8 three-point tries in the second quarter and boosted their lead to 53-19.
Maryland outscored Hofstra 23-9 in the third quarter to take a 76-28 lead. The fourth quarter was the only one in which the Terps didn’t make half of their shots; they went 6 for 13.
Maryland will host Mount St. Mary’s on Wednesday night.
