Michael Kosta Introduces Former Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer

Welcome to Late Night Roundup, a rundown of the previous night’s highlights that lets you sleep — and lets us get paid to watch comedy. Here are the 50 best movies on Netflix right now.

‘Challenge Accepted’

President Trump’s embattled labor secretary, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, stepped down on Monday amid an internal investigation into charges of professional misconduct.

Michael Kosta called her “one of the more obscure Cabinet secretaries,” on Tuesday’s “Daily Show.”

“Not you, too, Lori! It’s always the ones you never heard of.” — MICHAEL KOSTA

Allegations against Chavez-DeRemer include an affair with a member of her security team, drinking on the job, use of department resources for personal trips, and inappropriate text messages sent to female staff members by her father and husband.

“What the hell? Was she going through her workplace anti-harassment training like, ‘Challenge accepted’?” — MICHAEL KOSTA

“They’re saying her dad is trying to tag-team his daughter’s staff with his son-in-law? Well, no wonder she’s drinking at work!” — MICHAEL KOSTA

“Chavez-DeRemer also got in on the ick, because she apparently instructed young women on her staff to ‘pay attention’ to her father and her husband. I’ve got to say, girl-bossing has really taken a dark turn. It explains Sheryl Sandberg’s new book, ‘Lean In So My Dad and Husband Can Get a Better Look at Those Knockers.’”— STEPHEN COLBERT

“Just to recap, you got weird daddy-husband sexting, plus allegations that Chavez-DeRemer was engaged in an extramarital affair with a member of her security team. Not great. But on the plus side, falling in love with your security guy could lead to this summer’s biggest sequel, ‘The Bodyguard 2: This Time Her Dad’s There.’” — STEPHEN COLBERT

The Punchiest Punchlines (Kash Patel Edition)

“F.B.I. Director Kash Patel filed a $250-million defamation lawsuit yesterday against The Atlantic magazine over an article alleging that Patel has abused alcohol. Said Patel this morning, ‘Oh man, I did?’” — SETH MEYERS

“He’s not going to take this laying down — ’cause then they’d have to get the SWAT team in to wake him up.” — MICHAEL KOSTA

“I guess in retrospect, if a room full of 21-year-old concussed hockey players thinks you’re a good hang, you probably shouldn’t be in charge of the F.B.I.” — MICHAEL KOSTA

“I’ve been hung over, but I’ve never been so hung over they had to wake me up the same way they killed Bin Laden.” — MICHAEL KOSTA

The Bits Worth Watching

On Tuesday’s “Tonight Show,” Jimmy Fallon showed off MAD Magazine’s latest issue with a cover caricaturing him alongside his fellow late night hosts.

What We’re Excited About on Wednesday Night

The “Hokum” star Adam Scott will appear on Wednesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Also, Check This Out

The new biographical film produced by the estate of Michael Jackson, “Michael,” portrays its pop star subject as a sort of otherworldly angel scrubbed of his tainted reputation.
