Bravo reality star announces campaign to unseat Minnesota Republican

Former “Summer House” alum Luke Gulbranson announced his campaign as a Democrat challenging Republican Minnesota Rep. Pete Stauber on Wednesday.

The 42-year-old Bravo reality star, hockey coach and model/actor shared a video on Instagram saying he was launching his bid for Congress, The Hill reported. In the ad, he described some of the hardships he’s faced growing up in the North Star State, how union jobs have supported people in his community and what he aims to do if elected.

“Yeah, I’ve been on reality TV,” Gulbranson said. “That’s drama for show. What’s happening in D.C. is real drama with real consequences. And the stakes couldn’t be higher.”

“I wake up every morning and there’s this dangerous rhetoric and this madness coming out of D.C. And I can’t stand it,” he added.

Gulbranson appeared as a cast member in the series “Summer House” from 2020 to 2022.

The Minnesota Star Tribune reported that he wasn’t yet officially listed on the Federal Election Commission’s website as of Wednesday morning.

Gulbranson described the ICE agents in Minnesota who have been “wreaking havoc to our communities,” and called out Congress for “voting to take away people’s health care.”

“Spending $200 billion on a war when we need to be spending that money at home, taking care of our own people,” he said, adding that he would work to “protect our lands, to protect good paying union jobs and to help families who live on fixed incomes.”

“I see what’s happening to our country and I care too much to look away,” Gulbranson said. “I’m not here to play politics. I’m running to get Congress working for the people again.”
