Woman confessed to murdering mother, stepfather and dumping bodies in a ravine

A Texas woman allegedly confessed to murdering her mother and stepfather with an accomplice and dumping their bodies in a ravine.

Cassandra Lange and Joby Williams were charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of her mother, Cherry Rehbein, 54, and stepfather, Stephen, 58, in Mico, Texas.

Police found evidence of foul play when they arrived at Stephen’s home for a welfare check at 1:00 p.m on April 8 after he didn’t show up for work, the Medina County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators later returned to the house and found additional evidence that a crime had occurred.

Police were able to use vehicle tracking technology to identify one of Stephen’s cars traveling in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The car was pulled over and police found Lange, 29, Williams, 30, and two children — aged six years and a one-month-old — inside.

A County Chief Deputy and a Texas Ranger traveled to Corpus Christi and interviewed the pair, and Langed proceeded to confess to the grizzly crime, the MCSO said.

“During the interview, Lange confessed that she and Williams had killed her mother and stepfather and disposed of their bodies in a ravine,” officials said.

Investigators immediately searched for the bodies near the Medina Lake area, but were hampered due to nighttime conditions.

After several hours of searching, police recovered two large trash bags containing bodies in a remote area not visible from the road.

The corpses were sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Lang and Williams were taken into custody and the two children were placed with Child Protective Services and are set to be put into the care of relatives, the MCSO stated.

The two have each been placed on $1,000,000 bonds.
