Man arrested for threatening to decapitate Barron Trump snipe his father: report

A 29-year-old Illinois man has been arrested after allegedly making graphic threats to kill Barron Trump, assassinate his father, and “hunt” Secret Service agents who tried to stop him, according to federal authorities.

Prosecutors say Michael Kovko of Chicago sent a series of alarming messages through the White House’s website last month, including threats to decapitate President Donald Trump’s youngest son, the Daily Beast reported Friday.

“I’m going to take a serrated knife and saw Barron Trump’s head off after I successfully stake out the president of the United States with a high-caliber sniper rifle permanently aimed at the White House Lawn,” Kovko allegedly wrote. “I have absolutely every intent of plotting and carrying out an active assassination attempt against the President of the United States of America.”

Investigators said the threats were serious and detailed and drew the immediate attention of the United States Secret Service. Agents traced the messages to an IP address linked to Kovko’s home in Chicago, the New York Daily News reported.

“This is a serious threat,” Kovko allegedly added in his threatening message. Kovko was arrested April 3 and charged with transmitting threats in interstate commerce, according to media reports.

Kovko told investigators he had been prescribed medication but was not taking it, the Daily Beast said Friday. The man also said he was unemployed and had limited financial resources, the outlet noted.

If convicted, he faces up to five years in federal prison. A detention hearing was scheduled for Friday.
