Wealthiest counties in California revealed — and LA’s not even in the top 10

California is home to some of the richest enclaves in the world — but celebrity-packed Hollywood doesn’t even crack the top 10 in the state by income, a new study reveals.

The richest counties in the Golden State are clustered in Northern California, with San Mateo and Santa Clara counties topping the list, according to SmartAsset.

In fact, four of the 10 of the wealthiest counties in the entire US are located in Northern California.

Sky-high home values in exclusive Silicon Valley bedroom communities like Hillsborough and Atherton, home to venture capitalists and other tech titans, pushed San Mateo County’s overall “wealth index” to the highest in California, the study found.

The index measures median income, investment income and home values.

Median home values in San Mateo County are the highest in state at $1.54 million, with Santa Clara not far behind at $1.5 million.

San Mateo and Santa Clara have median incomes of $156,000 and $159,000, respectively.

Marin, San Francisco, Alameda and Santa Clara counties round out the top six wealthiest in the state.

Southern California’s Orange County — with a median income of $113,000 and home value of $1 million — ranks sixth on the statewide list, followed by Contra Costa, Napa and Santa Barbara counties.

On the nationwide list, Teton County, Wyo., Pitkin County, Colo., and Nantucket County, Mass., rounded on the top three wealthiest, followed by San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
