President Donald Trump issued a serious threat for Iran on Monday, prompting shocked reactions online.
Trump was speaking during a White House press conference when he made the unsettling comment referring to the ongoing conflict.
“The entire country could be taken out in one night. And that night might be tomorrow night,” he said.
The internet was quick to react.
“He’s going to drop a nuke isn’t he,” user Elena, retired academic health care worker and liberal commentator, wrote on Bluesky.
“This is a travesty. He is completely incapable of serving as President,” user Mel, who self-describes as a psychologist, wrote on Bluesky.
“Trump shouldn’t have nuclear codes for the same reason that arsonists shouldn’t have gasoline cans and flamethrowers,” Melanie D’Arrigo, executive director of Campaign for New York Health, wrote on X.
“He’s gonna use a nuclear weapon folks. That’s a major war crime. Invoke the 25th now,” progressive political commentator Sam K. wrote on X.
“Drunk on power and committing war crimes,” user Max, who self-describes as a fund manager and Iraq war veteran, wrote on X.
