Trump’s new DHS chief ejects Lewandowski’s handpicked ICE official in first shake-up

Newly-appointed Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin has apparently removed a key department official installed by a controversial on-again, off-again Trump adviser who was effectively running large aspects of the department under former Secretary Kristi Noem.

According to Anna Giaritelli of the Washington Examiner, “Two senior federal LEO tell me that ICE Chief of Staff Jason Killmeyer (a Corey Lewandowski pick) is no longer working at the agency. Why? Mullin is ‘looking at everything and ensuring that personnel and actions line up with his vision for DHS,’ one person said.”

This follows reporting that Mullin has also done away with a disastrous policy requiring the secretary to personally sign off on any expenditure greater than $100,000, which has been blamed for delays in disaster response and even setbacks in upgrading Trump’s border wall.

Lewandowski was frequently rumored to be in an extramarital affair with Noem; both of them are married with children.

Noem, whose husband’s bizarre cross-dressing hobby was recently revealed, denies this, although her government aircraft, with which she traveled with Lewandowski frequently, reportedly had a private bedroom built into it.

Noem’s ouster came after Trump was allegedly enraged that she passed the buck onto him for a $200 million DHS contract to produce a nationwide ad campaign featuring her on a horse.

Mullin’s assumption of the agency hits at a challenging moment for the Trump administration, as the public has grown deeply angry over nationwide immigration raids and mass deportations, particularly after a disastrous campaign in Minneapolis.
