Eugene Mirman, ‘Bob’s Burgers’ Voice Actor, Seriously Injured in Car Crash

Eugene Mirman, a comedian and actor known for his role voicing Gene Belcher on the animated television series “Bob’s Burgers,” was hospitalized on Tuesday with serious injuries after crashing his car in New Hampshire, the authorities and his agent said.

Mr. Mirman was pulled from his burning car after he crashed into a toll plaza in Bedford, N.H., shortly before noon on Tuesday, the police said.

The police identified the driver of the car as Yevgeny Mirman, 51, of Massachusetts. He was taken to a hospital after the crash with “serious injuries,” the police said.

Tyler Dumont, a spokesman for the New Hampshire State Police, declined to confirm whether the driver of the car was the “Bob’s Burgers” star, but he said Mr. Mirman remained hospitalized on Wednesday evening with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Jay Gassner, Mr. Mirman’s agent, confirmed that his client was in a “very scary car accident” but was “grateful to be on the mend.”

While the police were responding to the crash, a state trooper assigned to the security detail of Gov. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire arrived at the scene and saw that Mr. Mirman was trapped inside the burning car, the New Hampshire State Police said on social media.

The trooper helped pull Mr. Mirman out of the car, a 2026 Lucid Gravity, through a window. Ms. Ayotte and other witnesses at the scene helped the trooper as well, the police said.

Col. Mark B. Hall, the director of the New Hampshire State Police, called the response to the crash “heroic.”

“Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it,” Colonel Hall said.

The governor’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Wednesday evening. Ms. Ayotte posted on social media that she was proud of the trooper and the bystanders who “saved a life” at the scene of the crash.

Mr. Mirman has starred as Gene Belcher, the creative middle child of Bob and Linda Belcher, on the Fox series “Bob’s Burgers” since it began in 2011. He has also appeared in shows such as “Flight of the Conchords,” “Delocated,” “Archer” and “Broad City.”

No charges have been filed in connection with the crash, but the investigation is ongoing, the police said.
