The Department of Justice must produce records related to its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files to a media organization on an expedited basis, federal Judge Tanya Chutkan of the District of Columbia ordered Monday, according to a new report.
Politico’s Senior Legal Affairs Reporter, Kyle Cheney, reported on Monday night that Chutkan ordered the Justice Department to turn over records to Democracy Docket, a media organization run by voting rights attorney Marc Elias. Her order only applies to records related to the department’s handling of the files, including “records reflecting all correspondence between Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein,” according to the 15-page document.
“The request for directives and guidance issued to FBI employees tasked with reviewing the Epstein files in spring 2025 is likewise relevant to why the Department reversed its position on disclosure between February and July 2025,” the order continued.
