Ten Americans wounded in Iranian missile, drone attack on US military base in Saudi Arabia: report

Ten US service members were reportedly injured in an Iranian attack on a military base in Saudi Arabia Friday.

Two of the wounded service members are considered to be seriously wounded, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing US and Arab officials.

At least one Iranian missile and several drones struck the US’s Prince Sultan air base, the officials said.

The wounded troops were inside a building that was hit.

Multiple US refueling aircraft were also damaged in the attack.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Prince Sultan air base, just south of the Saudi capital city of Riyadh, was previously hit by an Iranian missile earlier, damaging five refueling aircraft.

Tehran has been firing missiles and launching drones at Israel and the Gulf States since the start of its war with the US and Israel.

However, US military officials maintain Iran’s drone and missile launch rates are down by more than 90%.

Since the start of Operation Epic Fury on Feb. 28, about 303 US service members have been wounded and at least 13 killed, according to CENTCOM.

“The vast majority of these injuries have been minor,” Navy Captain Tim Hawkins said Friday, “and 273 troops have returned to duty.”
