A police force near London said on Thursday that it was reinvestigating 11-year-old sex crime allegations against Andrew Tate, an online influencer known for his misogynistic views.
The decision came a day after a police watchdog said it was reviewing potential misconduct by officers in the case.
In 2015, the force responsible for the investigation, Hertfordshire Constabulary, said that three women separately accused Mr. Tate of sexually assaulting them. Two of women also accused Mr. Tate of raping them. Mr. Tate, who has denied the allegations, was arrested on three occasions in 2015 over them. But prosecutors did not bring charges against him.
The three women have since publicly detailed their accusations against Mr. Tate, including in a civil suit filed against him in 2024. Prosecutors reviewed the case in 2019 and in 2025, but said in both instances that it did not meet the legal standard for prosecution.
On Thursday, Hertfordshire Constabulary said that it would reopen the case. “We are committed to doing what is right and ensuring that allegations of such a serious nature are properly, thoroughly and fully investigated, no matter how long ago they occurred,” the force said.
A day earlier, the official police watchdog said it was investigating one former officer for gross misconduct relating to “alleged failures to properly investigate” the case. Two former officers who supervised the case were also being investigated for potential misconduct, said the watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct. The officers have not been named.
The three women said in a statement on Thursday that the decision to look again at their claims was “long overdue,” and argued that police had failed to adequately investigate at the time. “We hope the mistakes of past are corrected and that this is now the path to Tate facing criminal justice,” they said.
Andrew Ford, a lawyer for Mr. Tate, said in a statement that his client denied the allegations. He also noted the earlier decisions by prosecutors not to bring charges.
“The decision to revisit the same allegations again, in the absence of any new and credible evidence, raises serious and legitimate concerns about the integrity of the process,” Mr. Ford wrote.
The three women, along with one other woman, are suing Mr. Tate at the High Court in London over the allegations, with a trial set for June. Two of the women accused Mr. Tate of raping them, and all of the women claimed that Mr. Tate choked and abused them, according to court documents.
Mr. Tate, in a court filing, has denied threatening, coercing or abusing the women.
The criminal investigation is one of several that he faces Britain, Romania and the United States.
The British authorities last year authorized criminal charges for rape, human trafficking and assault against Mr. Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, after an investigation by Bedfordshire Police relating to three different women. Florida’s attorney general opened a criminal case against the brothers last year, and anti-trafficking agents at the Department of Homeland Security have been investigating the Tates, according to people familiar with the confidential investigation.
The brothers are also facing an investigation in Romania into allegations that they coerced more than 30 women, including a 17-year-old into a pornography operation, court records show. Mr. Tate, records said, is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old.
Both brothers have denied all criminal and civil accusations against them.
