With Nearly Half a Million Subscribers, TIME’s Flagship Climate Newsletter Widens Its Lens on Energy, Markets and Geopolitics
TIME has relaunched its flagship climate newsletter as Future Proof with Justin Worland, TIME’s platform for navigating the changing energy and climate economy. Unveiled Thursday at the 2026 TIME Earth Awards in London, the weekly newsletter expands its scope to cover the economic, technological and geopolitical forces reshaping the world for its nearly half a million subscribers.
On the focus of Future Proof, Worland writes: “To talk about climate change you need to understand these other forces; today, it’s increasingly clear that to fully understand the evolving world you need to understand climate—or at least the technological, economic, and political dynamics that it has created.… When we first launched the CO2 newsletter three years ago, the thinking was simple: to cut carbon emissions would require companies to act. With Future Proof, that focus continues but the frame is wider. I’ll cover growing clean tech trends, the expanding role of AI in our economy, and the changing trade landscape. We will provide the 30,000-ft. perspective necessary to understand where the energy and climate economy is headed and why it matters.”
“Justin has spent a decade covering how the defining stories of our time are inseparable from the forces driven by climate change. For that work, Justin was named the inaugural Climate Journalist of the Year by Covering Climate Now” said Sam Jacobs, Editor in Chief of TIME. “Future Proof builds on his many contributions and underscores TIME’s commitment to providing business and world leaders with the strategic, authoritative analysis needed to navigate these shifts.”
Each week, Future Proof will deliver key insights into the energy and climate economy, grounded in the recognition that traditional climate coverage often misses the larger economic and strategic transformations taking place. Future Proof joins TIME’s editorial newsletter portfolio of nearly a dozen publications spanning news, health, politics, business and climate, reaching more than 2 million subscribers. In the coming months, TIME will unveil additional components of the Future Proof platform, including in-person events and multimedia offerings.
