Attorney Alan Dershowitz told NBC News on Wednesday that he is lobbying President Donald Trump directly for a pardon of a multi-million-dollar sex-focused women’s wellness company.
The company is called OneTaste, which teaches its customers the practice of “orgasmic meditation,” also known as OM. The company’s founder, Nicole Daedone, and former executive, Rachel Cherwitz, were recently convicted of running a “forced labor conspiracy,” according to the report. The two women face up to 20 years in prison when they are sentenced on March 30, it added.
Dershowitz told the outlet that the conviction represents a “miscarriage of justice.”
“I intend to present the case for clemency directly,” he added.
Dershowitz’s comments come at a time when Trump’s pardon practices have received significant scrutiny. On his first day in office, Trump pardoned over 1,500 people involved in the Jan. 6 insurrection. He has also pardoned money launderers, drug traffickers, and political allies.
“We will seek every possible remedy, legal and political,” Dershowitz said. “This is a federal case, and the president has the ultimate authority. President Trump has uniquely viewed the pardon and commutation power as part of the system of checks and balances.”
