It was a showdown between “Sinners” and “One Battle After Another” at the 2026 Oscars, but, in the end, it was Paul Thomas Anderson’s thriller about left-wing ex-revolutionaries that won best picture. The hotly contested best actor race saw Michael B. Jordan emerge victorious for “Sinners,” while Jessie Buckley won best actress for “Hamnet.”
“One Battle After Another” took home six awards, including best director (Paul Thomas Anderson), best adapted screenplay (Anderson, again), best supporting actor (Sean Penn), best casting (Cassandra Kulukundis) and best film editing (Andy Jurgensen). The film received 13 nominations.
