‘I don’t want to go to prison’: JD Vance dodges Iran question

Vice President JD Vance avoided directly answering whether he supports the U.S. and Israeli military operation against Iran when questioned by an Associated Press reporter Friday in North Carolina.

Reporter Bill Barrow asked if Vance expressed concerns about extended wars to President Trump, given his past criticism of Middle East military involvement and current economic fallout including surging gas prices.

Vance declined to detail his private counsel, invoked the classified nature of Situation Room discussions and cited security protocols preventing electronic devices. He emphasized that senior officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, deliberate on options to protect Americans.

Vance added he wouldn’t publicly disclose classified conversations, stating he doesn’t “wanna go to prison,” and believes presidential advisors should maintain confidentiality with media.

Insiders report Vance, a former Iraq war public affairs officer, remains skeptical of the current military operation.
