Caroline Stanbury may be thousands of miles away from home, but the reality star says she still feels safer in Dubai than she does in the United States — even as tensions escalate between the UAE and Iran.
The “Traitors” star and “Real Housewives of Dubai” alum exclusively told Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea”on Friday that she plans to return to Dubai on March 15, explaining that flight availability — not fear — is what has kept her in Los Angeles.
“I am on the first flight, which is the 15th,” Stanbury said. “People keep asking me about this and I’m going to clear it up actually. It’s quite good because the flights from the US [opened] up on the 7th but there are no direct flights from LA until the 15th, so I’m on that.”
The 49-year-old TV personality, who is currently staying at a friend’s house in Los Angeles with her husband, Sergio Carrallo, said she’s been reassured knowing her twin sons are safe back home.
“But I’m comfortable now because my ex-husband is with the children, he got in, they’re all together,” she explained, referring to her former spouse, Cem Habib. “So it’s not like … they were home alone.”
Stanbury shares 16-year-old boys Zack and Aaron with Habib, and she said the teens have remained remarkably calm despite the headlines.
“Again, I have two 16-year-old boys and obviously I know the severity of the situation but thank god, being teenagers, they’re like, ‘Mom, calm down. We’re fine, stay over there,’” she said with a laugh. “So it wasn’t like they were in this giant disaster zone and having a heart attack while I was sitting over here in LA.”
While Stanbury briefly considered alternative routes home, she ultimately decided it was best to wait for her scheduled flight.
“But the flights are the flights,” she said. “I can get to Doha now on another airline but if I get to Doha, the air space there is closed. So I’d rather stay put and wait it out. It’s only another week.”

Despite the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Stanbury argued that the situation in Dubai has been far less dangerous than many might assume — especially when compared with gun violence in the US.
“I mean, I just want to put it into perspective as well actually. This is quite interesting. There were 600 missiles, 500 drones intercepted and I was in Austin on the first of March 24 hours before the mass shooting — so in all of this war so far, we have had three deaths,” she said.
Since her interview, PBS reported that six people have died and 122 wounded in Dubai.
“And I think there were 14 people injured in Austin and I’m not sure how many people died. And there’s been two other shootings since then in America,” Stanbury continued. “So let’s just put it in perspective. I still feel safer there than I do in most European or American cities right now.”
The “Ladies of London” alum emphasizes that she “has a lot of friends on the ground” in Dubai. “Everyone’s telling me it’s been amazing,” she told us.
