Early Saturday morning, Donald Trump lashed out at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who stunned Washington, DC, late Friday night with her plan to resign her seat in the House of Representatives in early January.
According to the controversial lawmaker who had been one of the president’s most ardent backers, “I’m going back to the people that I love to live my life to the fullest as I always have and I look forward to a new path ahead. I’ll be resigning from office with my last day being January 5, 2026, and I look forward to seeing many of you again sometime in the future.”
In her video posted to X, Greene also cited the fight over the Jeffrey Epstein files as a major contributing factor in her departure and which had become central to her fallout with the president.
Trump held his fire until early Saturday before jumping on Truth Social, where he lashed out — before thanking her for her service.
“Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown, because of PLUMMETING Poll Numbers, and not wanting to face a Primary Challenger with a strong Trump Endorsement (where she would have no chance of winning!), has decided to call it ‘quits.’ Her relationship with the WORST Republican Congressman in decades, Tom Massie of Kentucky, also known as Rand Paul Jr. because he votes against the Republican Party (and really good legislation!), did not help her,” he wrote.
He then added, “For some reason, primarily that I refused to return her never ending barrage of phone calls, Marjorie went BAD. Nevertheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie, and thank her for her service to our Country! President DJT.”
