Resident Evil Requiem is packed with hidden secrets and nods to previous games in the Capcom franchise. From an obscure Resident Evil Outbreak reference to Lady Dimitrescu’s signature blood wine, here are some of the best Resident Evil Requiem easter eggs in RE9.
Best Resident Evil Requiem Easter Eggs

With Resident Evil Requiem being a swansong for the Umbrella Corporation plotline, it understandably has many references to previous games in the series. For our list, we take a look at some of the more interesting Easter Eggs that hardcore Resident Evil fans would appreciate.
Resident Evil Outbreak Reference – Alyssa Ashcroft Lockpick Easter Egg

The first time Grace Ashcroft uses a lockpick to open a drawer in Resident Evil Requiem, players will get the “Like mother, like Daughter” achievement on PS5 and Xbox. This is of course a direct reference to 2003’s Resident Evil Outbreak. In the PS2 title, you play as Grace’s mom, Alyssa Ashcroft.
Where the RE9 Easter Egg comes in is that Alyssa is known in the Outbreak storyline for being good at picking locks. So of course when Grace Ashcroft picks her first lock in Resident Evil Requiem, the achievement is an Easter Egg to the PS2-era game and protagonist.
Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Reference Hidden in RE9’s Grill Fourteen Restaurant

In Resident Evil 3 Nemesis, players visit a restaurant called Grill 13. Capcom makes a reference to this at the very beginning of Resident Evil Requiem. When Grace Ashcroft heads to the Wrenwood Hotel at the start of the story, she walks through the city and passes by various shops.
However, before reaching the crime scene, Grace walks by a “Grill Fourteen” restaurant. This is interesting, since RE9 takes place about 28 years after the Raccoon City outbreak. The Easter Egg is both a nod to the original Grill 13 and the passage of time since the events of Resident Evil 3 Nemesis.
Resident Evil 2 Raccoon City Easter Egg at the Kendo Gun Shop

This is one of the more interesting Resident Evil Requiem Easter Eggs because of how Capcom used it to change lore in RE9’s story. In the original Resident Evil 2 from 1998, players encounter a character named Robert at the Kendo Gun Shop. In Resident Evil Requiem, players will get to revisit the iconic location while returning to a bombed-out Raccoon City.
Where this Easter Egg gets intriguing is that in RE9 they change the backstory to Leon and Robert’s encounter. I don’t want to get into any spoilers, but suffice to say it has a big impact on Leon’ character. Players will also revisit several other key Raccoon City locations from the classic Resident Evil games such as the Arukas store, and of course the RPD.
Lady Dimitrescu’s Sanguis Virginis Wine Returns from Resident Evil Village

While exploring the Care Center as Grace Ashcroft, players will have to solve a puzzle to get into the Courtyard. To get the key, Grace Ashcroft has open up a fancy wine bottle that is sitting on the shelf of the VIP Suite.
However, eagle-eyed players might recognize the wine as being “Sanguis Virginis” from Resident Evil Village. The label on the bottle even says it’s from the chateau of Lady Dimitrescu, the viral tall vampire mommy villain from the game. In Village, players can also pick up the Sanguis Virginis wine with Ethan Winters’ damaged hand.
Secret Capcom Locker in the RPD Full of Classic Game References

This one isn’t directly related to Resident Evil, although the Easter Egg is tied to Barry Burton. While exploring Raccoon City’s RPD as Leon, players can stumble upon a hidden puzzle quest in Requiem. Finding two of Barry’s hints will eventually lead Leon to a special locker in the RPD.
However, when you open up the RPD locker, players will discover a treasure trove of references to several of Capcom’s classic franchises. For example, the locker contains the original PlayStation 1 Resident Evil, Mega Man 8, and Street Fighter Alpha 2 game discs.
Resident Evil Village “Village of Shadows” Book Returns in RE9

At the beginning of Resident Evil Village, Ethan’s wife Mia Winters is reading a creepy bedtime story to their newborn child Rose. The book is called the “Village of Shadows,” and Ethan even calls out Mia for reading the disturbing folk tale to their baby.
In Resident Evil Requiem, Grace Ashcroft discovers a blind girl named Emily in the Care Center. However, Emily is actually reading a braille version of “Village of Shadows,” the same book Mia Winters has at the start of RE8. Once you get the Wristband to unlock her holding cell, Grace Ashcroft can actually get a closer look at the Village Easter Egg.
Capcom Finally Fixes the Infamous “Wellcome Leon” Sign From Resident Evil 2

Finally, I’m adding this Easter Egg because I actually find it hilarious. So in 1998’s Resident Evil 2, Capcom infamously misspelled Leon’s party sign as “Wellcome.” This has been a fun fact that fans have known about for years.
In Resident Evil Requiem, players can now find the party banner spelled correctly. However, Leon can actually find the two extra “L’s” in the original room that the misspelled sign was in. Essentially, Capcom is acknowledging the error decades later in this tongue-in-cheek RE9 Easter Egg.
