The Department of Justice is considering additional charges against one of President Donald Trump’s political enemies.
Prosecutors suggested Friday at a court hearing that more charges could be filed against former national security adviser John Bolton, who has already been indicted for allegedly mishandling classified information, reported CNN.
Bolton’s attorneys appeared for a pretrial conference in Maryland, where a 26-page indictment overseen by Trump appointee Lindsey Halligan charged Bolton with eight counts of transmission of national defense information and 10 counts of unlawful retention of NDI.
A federal judge scheduled a status conference for October 2026, as investigators continue combing through documents seized during searches of Bolton’s home and office.
Prosecutors allege that Bolton sent diary-like summaries from his notes, which allegedly included top-secret materials, during Trump’s first term to his wife and daughter.
