Lil Jon’s son Nathan Smith’s cause of death has been revealed.
The 27-year-old died of “drowning in the setting of psilocybin use,” the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed in an autopsy report, per People. The manner of death was ruled an accident.
Per the report, psilocybin, also known as “hallucinogenic mushrooms,” was found in his system.

Lil Jon — born Jonathan Smith — confirmed his son’s death in a statement to Page Six on Feb. 6, three days after Nathan was last seen alive.
“I am extremely heartbroken for the tragic loss of our son, Nathan Smith. His mother [Nicole Smith] and I are devastated,” the rapper, 55, lamented at the time.
“Nathan was the kindest human being you would ever meet. He was immensely caring, thoughtful, polite, passionate and warmhearted — he loved his family and the friends in his life to the fullest.”
Jonathan continued, “He was an amazingly talented young man; a music producer, an artist and engineer, and a graduate of NYU.”

“We loved Nathan with all of our hearts and are incredibly proud of him. He was loved and appreciated, and in our last times together, we’re comforted in knowing that we expressed that very sentiment to him.”
He concluded, “Thank you for all of the prayers and support in trying to locate him over the last several days,” giving a special shout-out to all the investigators involved.
The Milton Police Department announced earlier that day that divers with the Cherokee County Fire Department located and recovered a body from a pond in Mayfield Park near Nathan’s Milton, Ga., residence just before 12 p.m.
Investigators believed the individual was Nathan but said the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office would confirm.

“Based on the investigation to date, there is no indication of foul play. However, the Milton Police Department Criminal Investigations Division will continue to treat this as an open and active investigation,” the memo read.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the Smith family during this difficult time.”
Nathan — who went by the stage name DJ Young Slade — was last seen at his home on Baldwin Drive on the morning of Feb. 3.
Nathan ran out of the house, according to MPD, who noted that he did not possess a cellphone.
Cops called the circumstances under which he left the property “unusual,” while local outlet Rough Draft Atlanta previously reported that he was possibly naked at the time.

“He may be disoriented and in need of assistance,” officers previously said, adding that his loved ones were “concerned for his safety.”
Jonathan gushed over his “well-mannered,” “well-behaved” and “really, really good kid” in a May 2014 interview with HuffPost.
“I listen to my son … he can talk to me about anything,” the record producer marveled at the time.
Jonathan is also dad to 1-year-old daughter Nahara with girlfriend Jamila Sozahdah.
