  • YouTube increased its Premium subscription prices on Friday.
  • The individual plan is now $15.99, up $2 from $13.99.
  • The family plan now costs $26.99, a $4 price increase.

YouTube Premium raised its US prices on Friday, marking the latest example of “streamflation.”

The massively popular Google-owned video platform increased the price of its individual Premium subscription to $15.99 a month, up $2 from $13.99. The family Premium plan rose $4 to $26.99 a month, and the student plan rose $1 to $8.99.

“We’re updating the price for YouTube Premium plans in the US for the first time since 2023 to continue delivering a high-quality experience that supports creators and artists on YouTube,” a spokesperson told Business Insider in a statement.

“This change allows us to maintain the features our members value most: ad-free viewing, background play, and a massive library of 300M+ tracks on YouTube Music,” they added. “We continue to offer several plans, ensuring subscribers can choose the option that works best for them.”

Current subscribers can expect to receive an email from YouTube at least 30 days in advance confirming the updated prices.

YouTube isn’t the only major streaming service to raise prices this year. Netflix, Paramount+, Crunchyroll, and Hulu all announced or implemented price hikes in 2026. Other streaming hubs like Disney+. HBO Max, Peacock, and Apple TV raised their prices in 2025.
