Dad details nightmare family meal in Fresno as homeless man freaks out nearby

A simple family dinner in Fresno turned into a scene straight out of a nightmare for one local dad, who says a homeless man went berserk just feet from his child. The unsettling momentwas captured on video: a young boy quietly chowing down on pasta while a shirtless man flailed his arms, muttered to himself, and danced around outside the restaurant.

The father, who shared the video on social media, blasted city leaders for what he calls enabling dangerous behavior.

The numbers back up his fears: a 2024 Point‑in‑Time count found 4,305 people experiencing homelessness in Fresno and Madera counties, with 61% living unsheltered, exposed to the streets and traffic.

In a fiery post, he accused Mayor Jerry Dyer and Gov. Gavin Newsom of wasting taxpayer dollars while normalizing homelessness, saying, “I refuse to allow this to be normal in the eyes of my child.”

He argued that housing-first initiatives fail when they don’t address addiction or force accountability for criminal behavior, insisting the man’s erratic actions stemmed from serious substance abuse and mental health struggles.

“Giving him a room to do drugs does nothing to help him,” the dad wrote. The clip has gone viral, sparking a heated debate over how California handles homelessness, and whether families should avoid certain areas altogether.

For now, one local dad says dinner will never be the same.  “I pray these people get the tough love they need and are forced to sober up. ”
