Right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones suggested Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth met the definition of a terrorist after he admitted that President Donald Trump’s team members would “negotiate with bombs” to end their war in Iran.
“You’re not supposed to prohibitively strike somebody for regime change; it’s illegal,” Jones noted on his Wednesday show. “They called it getting their nuclear program and missiles, but then Trump would come out and say, no, it’s regime change. So that’s why it’s been all over the map.”
The conservative host noted that Trump had been “discrediting” himself by claiming the war was already won.
“Trump’s got neocon advisors and Israeli operatives in there telling you, ‘oh, it’s going to be great, sir. We’ve already won, sir.’ He’s been saying for 20 days we’ve won. In fact, 21 days. Three days into it, he was saying we’ve won,” he recalled.
Jones then turned to Hegseth’s threat on Tuesday to “negotiate with bombs.”
“Now, Hegseth is a great guy. He’s not, you know, he’s a patriot. He gets up there and does what the president says, and he swore an oath, and we elected him, and you’re going to hear, you know, this hawkish talk,” Jones said. “And people freak out by it. That’s his job, okay? He’s the Secretary of Defense.”
“And I’m not defending what he said. I mean, it literally is the definition of terrorism. We’re going to blow you up. We negotiate with bombs,” he continued. “That will be the new definition of terrorism. But again, one guy’s a terrorist, another person’s a freedom fighter. You know, the empire that wins writes history books.”
“But isn’t that how Iran’s been negotiating with bombs over the years? I mean, it’s just, you boil it all down at the end of the day. This is what big governments do, and I don’t defend any of it.”
