Twenty of President Donald Trump’s 23 Cabinet members have donated substantial financial gifts to him totaling at least $30 million since 2023, according to reporting by The Daily Beast’s Substack outlet The Swamp and Citizens for Ethics watchdog group.
Education Secretary Linda McMahon leads with $20 million, followed by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick with $10 million.
Donations include direct contributions, political gifts, stock holdings, and property visits.
Other known donors include Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, outgoing DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, among others.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. were not listed as donors.
Citizens for Ethics suggests the donation pattern reflects a “sliding scale” where Cabinet members’ financial support correlates with their standing with Trump.
