The Miami Herald reported Friday that bags of shredded documents were discovered outside the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan where Jeffrey Epstein was detained.
Investigatory files revealed at least one inmate was involved in document disposal, raising questions about prison guard involvement.
Podcaster Allison Gill called the discovery a “massive revelation” during her Sunday episode of “The Breakdown,” noting it adds to the “million really weird coincidences” surrounding Epstein’s death.
Gill highlighted concerning details from the investigation: inmate Steven López was interviewed by FBI agents but only asked yes-or-no questions with a prison lieutenant present, making it an intimidating setup. The FBI report noted López wanted to “keep his head down” and avoid jeopardizing his new prison job. These circumstances suggest potential witness intimidation and raise additional accountability questions regarding the prison’s role in the document destruction.
