Zeteo journalist Andrew Pérez highlighted a more alarming comment from President Donald Trump’s Thursday Oval Office meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi that overshadowed the Pearl Harbor joke controversy.
Trump stated the U.S. possesses “unthinkable” military weaponry that “you don’t even want to know about,” and claimed America could “end this thing in two seconds if you wanted to.”
Pérez interpreted Trump’s vague reference as an implicit threat involving nuclear weapons, which have only been used twice in war since 1945.
While no evidence suggests the administration plans nuclear deployment against Iran, Pérez warned that even hinting at such weapons was deeply alarming given the war’s escalation and the massacre of Iranian schoolchildren.
For the past three weeks, the Trump administration has already deployed devastating conventional weapons in Iran, like cruise missiles, 5,000-pound bunker buster bombs, stealth bombers, and suicide drones.
