President Donald Trump was mocked on Wednesday after unleashing his latest attack on California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat.
In a Truth Social post, Trump claimed that Newsom’s recent interview, in which he claimed he had dyslexia and was a poor reader, had disqualified him as a presidential candidate.
“On top of that, Black People are angry because he is obviously a racist,” Trump wrote. “While we all want to be politically correct, having a mental disorder is not a positive campaign event. Also, this was a politically suicidal act. The only thing he didn’t say is he is losing his look, but nobody wants to say that about one’s self (sic).”
Trump’s comments attracted mockery from political analysts and observers on social media.
“Siri, show me projection,” political scientist Miranda Yaver posted on Bluesky.
“Somehow of all the things in the world, it’s that GovPressOffice account that gets under his skin the most. Pretty obvious,” political commentator Ben DuBose posted on Bluesky.
“People should never get used to the fact that posts like this are so incredibly below the standards that the leader of the country should be held too. The normalization of this madness is insane,” political commentator Noah Gilbert posted on X.
“This strikes me as very clearly not written by Trump,” political scientist David Darmofal posted on Bluesky. “It’s not filled with his usual rage. So if it’s a staffer, I wonder what their game is.”
