An unattended bag briefly delayed the start of Staten Island’s St. Patrick’s Day parade Sunday — as international tensions roiled in the wake of the growing conflict with Iran.
The Target bag left near the stepping-off point of the parade delayed the procession for nearly an hour, as police investigated it as a possible explosive device, reports said.

The bag was found at the intersection of Forest and Pelton Avenues in West Brighton, the Staten Island Advance first reported.
The bag was later retrieved by its owner, who was jeered at by the accompanying crowd, the Advance reported.
The threat was unfounded, according to police.
