‘SNL’ takes aim at BAFTAs’ racial slur Tourette’s incident

“Saturday Night Live” addressed the BAFTAs racial slur incident head-on with a skit poking fun at celebs marred by controversy.

The iconic sketch show posted a skit on YouTubethat was cut for time during its latest episode, hosted by “Heated Rivalry” star Connor Storrie. The skit involved impersonations of celebs blaming Tourette’s syndrome as an excuse for their past behavior.

The skit took aim at Mel Gibson, “Real Housewives of New York” alum Jill Zarin, J.K. Rowling, Armie Hammer, Bill Cosby, Louis C.K. and Kanye West.

“This week at the BAFTA Awards, the crowd was shocked as several offensive words were shouted from the crowd,” the skit began.

“SNL” cast member Andrew Dismukes then launched into his impersonation of Mel Gibson.

“I’m Mel Gibson, and as I probably should have pointed out decades ago, I too, suffer from Tourette’s, which explains a lot of the things I’ve said or yelled through the years,” he said.

“Am I proud of what I’ve said? No. But I’m very proud for you to know that it was because of Tourette’s. Unfortunately, I’m not alone.”

Sarah Sherman played Jill Zarin, who was recently fired from the “RHONY” rebootafter posting an Instagram video criticizing Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show.

“You might have seen the video I posted this week where I said Bad Bunny did the worst halftime show in history and why was it in Spanish? And where were all the white people?” Sherman as Zarin asked.

“But what you didn’t know is I suffer from severe long-winded monologue-style Tourette’s, a condition that affects nine out of 10 people on Long Island.”

Storrie also hilariously played Armie Hammer.

“Not many people know this, but one of the most common side effects of Tourette’s is cannibalism,” he cracked.

Ashley Padilla as Rowling explained the “Harry Potter” writer’s anti-transgender views.

“Tourette’s isn’t just blurting out an offensive word. It can be years-long obsession with something like trans life and a deep anger that someone who was born with a wand in their pants would want that one removed and replaced with a Horcrux,” she said.

Kam Patterson as West garnered plenty of laughs when he confessed to having “three different kinds of Tourette’s.”

During last week’s BAFTA Awards, Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo had the N-word shouted at them by Tourette’s syndrome campaigner John Davidson.while the “Sinners” stars were presenting an award.

Davidson later spoke out about the incident, sharing that he was “deeply mortified if anyone considers my involuntary tics to be intentional or to carry any meaning.”

BAFTA also apologized “unreservedly” to Jordan and Lindo, and the BBC also apologized for not editing out the moment prior to broadcast.
