Israel bombards Iranian ballistic missile, air defense sites in new round of strikes

Israel’s military bombarded Iranian ballistic missile and air defense sites in a new round of strikes Sunday morning, with blasts reported in Tehran amid escalating operations.

The IDF said the Israeli Air Force, guided by military intelligence, struck about 30 targets across Iran – including air defense systems, missile launchers, regime installations and military headquarters – as part of its ongoing campaign.

“Dozens of Air Force fighter jets struck and completed just a short while ago another wave of strikes to target the ballistic missile array and air defense systems of the Iranian terror regime in western and central Iran,” the IDF said on X.

Iranian state media reported at least three explosions rocked Tehran around 12:30 a.m. local time, AFP reported.

The new wave of airstrikes comes after Iran launched a barrage of counterattacks against the Jewish state and US targets across the Middle East in retaliation for the joint US-Israeli strikes earlier Saturday morning that left Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei dead.

One Israeli woman was killed and at least 20 injured when Iranian ballistic missiles slammed into Tel Aviv Saturday, after Tehran targeted civilians across the region in retaliatory attacks.

“We now face a significant, decisive and unprecedented operation to dismantle the capabilities of the Iranian terrorist regime,” Israel’s military chief Eyal Zamir said in a televised statement.

Israeli leaders vowed to keep blasting Iranian weapons and military sites.

“The IDF will continue to strike the ballistic missile array and air defense systems of the Iranian terror regime,” the military force said.
